Taste Test - AleSmith Nut Brown

Will you go nuts for Nut Brown?

AleSmith Brewing Company’s Nut Brown is an English Style Brown Ale. It’s a year-round release, and for good reason. On first pour, the Nut Brown is a lovely mahogany brown with a relatively light head. The foam quickly dissipates leaving a beer that has a lot of flavor, without being overpowering. The aroma is full of chocolate, malt, and toasted hazelnuts.

At first sip you get a dry toasty nuttiness with a slight dark chocolate note. There’s a hint of yeastiness that lends a bready or cracker-like taste. It almost sounds like I'm describing a KIND Bar, but it's quite a nice flavor. This beer definitely lends it self to drinking with food.

At 5% ABV, Nut Brown is incredibly easy to drink and very enjoyable. I finished the entire bottle without even realizing it. It was a disappointment to pick up my glass and find it empty. It’s certainly the type of beer you could have more than one of without getting tired of it.

This beer is perfect this time of year, especially if you’re looking for something lighter drinking, or if you’re looking for a break from the onslaught of pumpkin beers or other fall offerings.

I paid $12.99 for a 6-pack of 12 oz bottles ($2.17 per 12 oz bottle).
